Gartner Video: A New Generation of Sandboxing for the Next Generation of Threats
The cyber threat landscape is dramatically changing, but one thing is certain – malware authors are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and most organizations are struggling to keep pace.
Enterprises have turned to sandboxing technology as the answer to this complex problem. Such systems are able to execute and monitor the behavior of unknown malware programs to automatically identify previously unseen (zero day) malware that other systems miss. But not all sandboxes can claim the same level of refinement and accuracy. Many first-generation sandboxes are being directly bypassed by this advanced malware, and are becoming more and more ineffective.
This video explores the complex (and sometimes confusing) world of sandboxing technology. Lastline’s very own Brian Laing joins Gartner’s research vice president Lawrence Orans to discuss the rise in sandbox implemetation in the enterprise network, the increase of evasive behavior by malware authors, and various sandboxing approaches available today.
